History and a little bit about us and Ingenue

Showing and breeding dogs is my hobby, I am breeding occasionally show quality Lhasa Apsos, selecting breeding stock very carefully around the world. 

Until 2008 we bred mainly Afghan Hounds, due to difficulties in many things we decided not to continue our breeding program for a while. I had been thinking of finding a smaller breed of interest so that I could keep my breeding material at home. 

Luckily I accidentally got involved with the Lhasas again, my interest for the breed goes back to mid 90´s. Since then I have followed the breed. I am starting our breeding program with Ch Chic Choix Dare To Stare.

I have been able to find some nice breeding material and got to know some very nice Lhasa fans.

We purchased our first Chihuahua in 2006, we had our first litter in 2007.

A little bit about my background:

Throughout my childhood my family had English Setters, my father Thor enjoyed hunting with Pat

As I grew up among the breed it was natural that my first own dog was an English Setter. I had a few litters from show-lines as well. Under the prefix SnowSett. I bred the first American Champion in English Setters in Finland 1996. I have also bred one Gordon Setter and one Cocker Spaniel litter.

As I was more into showing I saw many different breeds and laid my eyes on the Afghan Hound. 

I was better introduced to the breed by Juha Kares kennel Chic Choix. In 1994 Juha had a proud black beautiful afghan bitch called Tazzia. The first time I met her she was lying on her own couch checking me out. Juha was a great admirer of afghans and shared his knowledge of the breed with me.

In 1996 my husband and I purchased our first afghan, Ch Scaramis Pardon Me Boys "LouLou" from Ami and Liisa Airas, as I found their breeding results to be closest to my interest.

All the while I had developed some nice contacts in the US and soon after LouLou we got Am Ch Xandali Ingenue "KD" (litter sister to Ch Xandali Isabeau O`Boanne "Izzy"). 

KD was to be our foundation bitch, but that just was not meant to be.

In 2000 the first Ingenue litter was born sired by Draco (Ch Boanne´s Dragonheart) and out of LouLou.      

This litter produced magnificent movers, which I had expected, hoped for. Good movement was my main priority in breeding, from which Ingenue Afghans are known.

I wanted to combine some for me important qualities in the breed by combining Scandinavian and American bloodlines. I breed for the standard and I wanted attitude, movement, long tail, long neck from the American lines, just to mention a few details. The Scandinavian Afghans are known for the right expression, underjaw and bone.

We  had a lot of luck in finding excellent loving homes for our Afghan puppies, we could not keep them at home, the only Afghan who lived with us permanently was our foundation bitch Ch Scaramis Pardon me Boys the legendary producer "LouLou"

Since we have a limited amount of dogs at home living in the house with us, we co-own or have bred many of our own breeding and imports in many breeds. Below is isted also bitches who we have the opportunity to breed from.

This is Mario, who is the first Apso in our house in the new Era beginning 2008.

We might have some more Lhasas at home in the future=) I am planning to keep some puppies myself, I enjoy very much taking care of the coats using Laser Lites products and I am also showing more now.

I am a "Desperate Houswife" now, I gave up my career for our children. We live in Grankulla, just 10 mins

outside the capitol of Finland, we have some new house plans for the near future=) 

We spend our wonderful summers in Särkisalo with total freedom for the dogs and cats!

Lena This is me, Lena, the person behind Ingenue. I was born in Bergen, Norway. My family moved to Finland when I was 3 years. I have my roots still in Norway where we visit often. I have studied Marketing in Svenska Handelsläroverket and later became a Fashion Designer in London. I have designed my own collection of clothes which I later sold to Marimekko, you can see some photos of my designs on these pages. I had my own Interior Design shop in Helsinki, where I combined my own designed furniture and clothes.

Johannes This is Johannes and he is our eldest child. He is 15 years old and goes to a special school in Helsinki city. He loves to play with his football and also enjoys playing different games on the computer or with his Playstation.

Sissel This is Sissel and she is the eldet of the girls. She is 14 years old and simply loves horses. You can find her always at the barn taking care of her carehorse Timi, horseback riding or taking part in the jumping competitions. Sissel is also interested in junior handling which she started when she was 10 years old.

Solveig This is Solveig and she is 10 years old. She has a passion for sports. We hardly ever see her just walking, she is almost always running tennis racquet in hand. When she is home she is playing with Nasse or her miniature hamsters Rufus & Risanna.

Magdalena This is Maggi the youngest of the girls. She is 7 years old and very very busy in the afternoons playing with her "Littlest Pet Shop" :) figurines. She takes dancing lessons and loves High School Musical. She is also the proud owner of Kalju the Peterbald cat.

August This is August with his dad. He is the youngest of the bunch, 3 years. His "hobbies" include driving in his tractor, playing with his building tools and driving around with dad.

Nasse Milajakroha Minile Nasse, the little big woman, the boss of the household. Kristoffer calls her “the rottweiler”  as she bosses even our afghan guests. This little shorthaired Chihuahua is a very smart and humorous girl. She is Solveigs best friend and it seems they have created a language of their own.

Emma Rus J CH Baysides Milk n' Honey at Snowsett Emma is an English Setter, the sweetest family dog one can imagine. She goes everywhere with our eldest daughter Sissel, the stables, walks in the woods, visiting friends and junior handling. They simply love each others company.

Mantra Mantra (Chic Choix Dare To Stare) is our beautiful Lady!  She is a dear member of our family. She will be the foundation bitch for Ingenue Lhasa Apsos.

Cassina Cassina is a sweet and loveable Lhasa, we adore her!
